WHO WE ARE

Stew Liff Stewart Liff began his career with the Federal Government as a Personnel Specialist in 1974. He served in many different capacities in Personnel and became a nationally recognized expert in the field. In May 1992, Mr. Liff received the President's Council on Management Improvement Award. He moved on to progressively more responsible positions until becoming a Senior Executive in 1994. In 2000, he received the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service. Most recently, his office was one of only two offices in the entire Federal Government to receive the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director's prestigious PILLAR (Performance Incentives Leadership Linked to Achieving Results) Award.

A classically trained artist and a successful executive, Stew has combined his expertise in the fine arts with his managerial expertise to enhance the practice of visual management in organizations. Mr. Liff is perhaps the foremost proponent in the Federal Government of using visual displays to connect employees to the mission and for sharing performance information with the work force. A popular speaker, he has given talks about using visual displays at many conferences including OPM's Strategic Leadership Conference, the ASPA (American Society of Public Administrators) Convention, and the Excellence in Government Conference, sponsored by Government Executive Magazine. His work has also been prominently featured in Government Executive Magazine and the Work in America Institute's book "Teams Work."

Stew has served on the Advisory Council of the Work in America Institute, and is a member of the Los Angeles Federal Executive Board and Vice President of Administration for Congregation Beth Shalom of Santa Clarita, California. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Queens College and a Master of Fine Arts from Hunter College. He has improved the performance of his own federal workplace, and worked with a number of other federal offices to support their performance improvement efforts.
